Course Description: The study of the nomenclature, bonding, preparations and reactions of compounds of carbon, including aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, haloalkanes, alcohols, and ethers.

  Outline: The outline of Organic Chemistry 3013 will be the following.    There will be 6 exams with lowest exam being dropped.  Each exam will account for 100 points each totaling 500 points.  There will be 5 quizzes for 5 points each.  Each exam will examine your knowledge of important points that will be found on the upcoming exam.  Attendance is necessary for proper progression in the class and will count for 25 points.  Homework problems will be assigned however will not be collected.  Problems similar to those found in the homework, will be seen in both quizzes and exams. Excused absences will be makeup quizzes the next class period and exams will be scheduled as soon as possible.  Makeup exams and quizzes will be different than those given to the regular class however will not be more difficult.  Unexcused absences will be judged on a case by case basis to determine if a makeup is warranted.    This includes inclement weather.  University policy will be followed for students with disabilities.  Cheating is unacceptable in all instances and will be punished fully.  If your progression in this class is unsatisfactory then a warning letter will be sent to you via email on 11-14-2007, before the last day to drop.
